Chocolate Coins Christmas Tradition

The gifting of chocolate coins at Christmas time has long been a tradition but where or when did it start?

The tradition was believed to have been started by the deeds of Saint Nicholas (the bishop of Myra in Lycia, now considered Turkey).

A shy and kind man, he was said to have climbed onto a roof and thrown a purse of money down a chimney which landed in a pair of stockings a little girl had hung up to dry.

Every year Saint Nicholas would continue to give coins to the poor children of Myra.

In the United Kingdom chocolate coins are traditionally bought around Christmas and are used to fill stockings or decorate the tree. Alternatively they are used in treasure hunts and trails.

We love the tradition of unwrapping a golden chocolate coin at Christmas and wanted to create our own version with delicious Belgian milk chocolate to recreate our childhood memories. Check out our website for more details at Nirvana Chocolat.

We've even created an opulent adult version with a gold bullion bar, take a peak. Check out our website at Nirvana Chocolat for more details.

We hope you enjoy our Christmas chocolate treats.
